Celebs, they're just like us!

1. Let's start off with this "oopsie" my timeline showed me earlier this week: Fans speculated that, based on her phrasing here, Billie Eilish accidentally posted this video of her performing "ocean eyes" on the song's 10th anniversary to her main account, rather than a fan account.

3. Back in 2020, Halsey unintentionally tweeted a 9/11 joke after Pitchfork left a snarky review of her recent album, Manic. Not realizing that Pitchfork's offices were located in One World Trade Center — the skyscraper that was built after the twin towers collapsed — she joked, "can the basement that they run p*tchfork out of just collapse already."

Upon realizing this, Halsey quickly deleted that tweet and issued an apology, saying, "was just trying to make a joke! Intended zero harm."

4. Olivia Rodrigo talked about her mishap — aka when she was caught Insta-stalking her ex, Joshua Bassett, by accidentally following him — on The Tonight Show. The "Drivers License" singer, who famously follows no one on Instagram, revealed that she does so to help her stay off her phone...but in the end, it actually made everyone immediately notice her mistake.

5. In 2023, Sabrina Carpenter allegedly posted an Instagram story where she accidentally linked out to Olivia Rodrigo's Tonight Show interview rather than her own music video. In the interview (which you may recognize from the example before this one), Olivia discussed accidentally following their mutual ex-boyfriend — Joshua Bassett — and her sophomore album, Guts, being nominated for six Grammy awards. What Sabrina meant to share was her "santa doesn’t know you like i do" music video.

Fans suspect Sabrina or a member of her social team might've copied the interview link to watch it, and pasted it into Instagram later when sharing her video, forgetting to copy the correct one to the music video first.

You can watch a video from a fan who screen-recorded the whole thing here.

6. In 2018, Lorde posted this photo of a bathtub with the caption, "And iiiii will always love you," a lyric from the Whitney Houston song of the same name. Lorde immediately started getting backlash for the post, as Whitney Houston died in her bathtub six years prior.

On the left, a bathtub with green water and a magazine; on the right, an apology text for causing offense

Lorde quickly shared this apology, stating she was "just excited to take a bath" and hadn't realized her misjudgment. She added, "I'm an idiot. Love Whitney forever and ever. Sorry again."

"I’m so sorry for offending anyone - I hadn’t even put this together I was just excited to take a bath."

7. In 2014, Kris Jenner shared this photo of her and Gordon Ramsay posing next to her cookbook, In the Kitchen with Kris. Seems innocent enough, no?

Well, six days earlier, Gordon had shared the very same photo to his own Instagram account...except his version was free of the photo editing that Kris's very blatantly had.

8. In 2012, Oprah tweeted about how much she loved the new Microsoft Surface tablet, saying, "Have bought 12 already for Christmas gifts. #FavoriteThings." The kicker? As you can see on the bottom right, the tweet was posted via an iPad.

9. In 2020, Blake Lively posted this photo to her Instagram, encouraging folks to vote early in the presidential election. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that there was something a littttttle off about her shoes — namely, that it seems as though she drew them on her feet.

Here's a closeup of them:

Her husband, Ryan Reynolds, shared a similar photo to his socials, sans edited sandals, and you can see Blake standing barefoot and on her tippy toes.

10. Normani and her team were allegedly caught running a fan account (which, you can tell, because the screenshot the popular fan account posted of her Instagram profile says "edit profile" instead of "follow").

Screenshot of a social media profile page with a large following and no posts. The text asks, "WHAT IS HAPPENING."

In an interview with the Cut following this slip-up, Normani awkwardly dodged the question of whether or not she ran the account. When asked about her relationship with her fan accounts, she responded, "No, I mean, I’m definitely heavily involved," despite having said she isn't really on social media. Then, she was asked if she or her team ran any of her fan accounts. She avoided answering the question, and her publicist stepped in to say, "Yeah, I think we can skip this question."

11. In 2020, Lili Reinhart shared this topless photo of herself to her Instagram, referencing Breonna Taylor, a Black woman who was shot by white police officers while sleeping in her own home. The photo was captioned, "Now that my sideboob has gotten your attention, Breonna Taylor's murderers have not been arrested. Demand justice."

The post unsurprisingly got a ton of backlash, so Lili deleted the photo and apologized in a series of tweets, saying "...I made a mistake with my caption. It was never my intent to insult anyone and I’m truly sorry to those that were offended."

12. Back in 2014, a tweet (top) from Rita Ora's official Twitter account was shared, saying she'd drop new music if it got 100,000 retweets. The post was later deleted after only amassing 2,000, and Rita (bottom) claimed that her account was hacked and that someone was trying to leak her music. While fans speculate it was a promotional attempt that didn't go to plan, Rita denies this.

13. Last year, Melissa McCarthy shared a photo of herself and her date, director Adam Shankman, on the red carpet for Center Theatre Group’s annual gala. Barbra Streisand commented on the now-deleted post, saying, "Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?"

14. This one's my personal favorite: Hozier posted this video of him with the Handsome Squidward filter to his Instagram story, seemingly meaning to have posted it to his Close Friends story.

Hozier addressed the goof in a follow-up story, saying, "I'm so mortified. I'm not high, I just pressed the wrong button, and then my phone shat the bed."

15. Back in 2018, Adam Levine of Maroon 5 posted this now-deleted Notes app letter to MTV on his Instagram, enraged that Childish Gambino's "This Is America" didn't receive any VMA nominations. He wrote, "I'm sure [Childish] doesn't care that he wasn't nominated for a VMA because he's cool as fuck and everything. But I care. Because I'm NOT that cool."

Instagram post by Adam Levine about Childish Gambino's impactful videos and lack of VMA nomination, expressing his own thoughts on MTV's relevance

While the sentiment was there, Adam didn't quite fact check himself before he posted all that. "This Is America" was nominated — in seven categories, in fact. Adam published this apology to his Instagram, saying, "Shit. I don't usually put my foot in my mouth. But this time, I did... I'm sorry, MTV. Still hate you though. but Mostly...I'm sorry."

17. In what appears to be some kind of brand deal with a protein shake company, Scott Disick shared this photo to his Instagram with a pre-approved caption...only he forgot to delete the instructions at the very beginning before hitting post. The caption begins, "Here you go, at 4pm est, write the below."

18. Scott isn't alone there — Naomi Campbell made the same mistake in her Instagram post promoting these Adidas Originals sneakers. She included the instructions in her post, beginning the caption with, "Naomi, SO nice to see you in good spirits!!!! Could you put something like," before following it up with what she was actually meant to copy and paste. The post has seemingly been deleted since.

19. Demi Lovato once tweeted, "About to put this airline on BLAST," after an unfortunate customer service experience...but the even more unfortunate part of it all was that she tweeted it on 9/11. She later apologized for the tweet, saying, "Omg wrong wording.. I'm so sorry."

20. Another classic: Back in Trump's first term in office — before he was "ReTruth"-ing exclusively on Truth Social — he tweeted this, with the typo, "Despite the constant negative press covfefe." Obviously, it instantly became a meme.

"Despite the constant negative press covfefe," with high retweets and likes on 31 May 2017

21. Back in March of 2020, at the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Vanessa Hudgens went on her infamous rant about it on Instagram Live, saying, "But like, it's a virus. I get it, I respect it... But at the same time...even if everyone gets it...people are gonna die, which is terrible, but like, inevitable?" She later added, "I don't know, maybe I shouldn't be doing this right now," in reference to her being on live.

Vanessa responded to the backlash on Twitter with an apology, saying, "I realize my words were insensitive and not at all appropriate for the situation our country and the world are in right now. This has been a huge wake up call about the significance my words have..."

22. In 2018, Bernadette Peters posted a photo- er, screenshot, of Aretha Franklin to Twitter, captioned, "There is NO ONE. NO ONE like her!!!! The Queen." She did not, however, remember to crop the search bar out of the photo before posting, nor did she correct her misspelling of "Aretha" in her search.

The video was, of course, meant to be for his Close Friends list. He followed it up with the following story post, saying, "that was for my close friends, But I guess it's too late now. Enjoy it while u can."

Well, in a now-deleted tweet, user @Al_Khee shared a photo (right) calling Shad out and alleging that he was actually on her commercial flight to New York. Additionally, the photo he posted is realllly similar to one that was posted on a VIP transportation company's public website, further making fans question what the actual truth was.

27. Back in 2019, Ariana posted this photo of her new tattoo commemorating her second #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, "7 Rings." The Japanese Kanji symbols that make up her tattoo — 七輪 — separately mean "seven" and "ring," but together, they mean "shichirin," which is a small charcoal barbecue grill. As you might've expected, the barbecue memes were endless online.

Like in her music video, the tattoo should've read, "七つの指輪".

Ariana consulted her Japanese tutor for guidance, but unfortunately, she didn't quite follow their advice as indicated. Sharing her updated tattoo to her Instagram story, Ariana said, "slightly better. thanks to my tutor for helping me fix ... rip tiny charcoal grill. miss u man. i actually really liked u." Folks online were quick to point out that her updated tattoo now roughly translated to "Japanese BBQ finger."

29. In 2018, Tom Holland unveiled the poster for the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War on Instagram Live...only to realize he was perhaps not supposed to share it at all. Yeah, he ended that livestream realllll fast.

30. And finally, to round this out on a wholesome note, let's not forget the time Lorde got caught running a secret onion ring account on Instagram, @onionringsworldwide, where she sampled, reviewed, and rated the golden, crispy delights from restaurants all around the world.

Collage of onion rings and Funyuns bag from an Instagram account, onionringsworldwide, featuring 118k followers

She later confirmed on an episode of The Tonight Show that it was, in fact, her, saying, "I naively didn't realize that it would be a thing that I was going to different places and trying the onion rings at each of those places... It's me." Honestly, more of this energy on social media from celebs, please.
