She starred in one of the most popular Christmas movies of all time, living the dream as the love interest for Hugh Grant

However for Love Actually star Martine McCutcheon her personal life as of late has been far from jolly.

The actress, 49, was declared bankrupt in July, just 11 months after her split from her husband Jack McManus, with whom she shares a ten-year-old son.

Martine filed a petition for her insolvency over a debt to a finance company, official public records revealed at the time.

Her bankruptcy was issued just two months after Martine and the musician sold their family home they had shared, a five-bedroom detached home in Surrey, for £1,355,000, as they went their separate ways.

And now Martine is capitalising over the festive period in a bid to improve her finances.

Appearing in five Christmas promotions this season, the star has collaborated with Costa, dabbled in skincare and haircare and teamed up with Google.

She also turned on the Christmas lights at a hotel in Hampton Court, creating her own meet and greet competition.

Costa

Recreating one of the most iconic Love Actually scenes, Martine teamed up with Costa as she joined a special welcoming committee at London's Stansted Airport ahead of the festive season.

Dressed in a cosy jumper and maroon jacket, she witnessed reunions as friends and family arrived from across the globe.

Martine handed out warm festive drinks and was flanked by a gospel choir performing uplifting carols in the arrivals hall adding to the magic.

The heartwarming initiative was created by Costa Coffee to bring festive cheer to those catching up and to celebrate the moments of connection during the holiday season.

Speaking on the moment, Martine said: 'I've loved spreading a little festive cheer today. Watching people light up the moment they see someone they've missed is truly magical.

'There's a real sense of anticipation and gratitude in those first reunions that feels so unique to this time of year. It's been a joy to witness those memories being made right in front of us.'

Google

Martine also reunited with her Love Actually co-star Thomas Brodie-Sangster, 22 years after the film was released for a deal with Google Pixel.

Starring in a festive advert for the brand, Martine wore the the same red coat that her character wore in the film as she walked through the set with Thomas.

The pair were spotted shooting on location at London’s South Bank, which was transformed into a snow-covered wonderland.

Sharing another Ad over on her Instagram she gave her opinion on Christmas jumpers, ketchup on roast potatoes and regifting presents from the year before.

Elavate's Multi Collagen

Martine has also secured a brand deal with collagen brand Elavate as she opened up about her ageing skin in an Instagram promotion.

She shared how she felt like she was looking 'really tired' all the time and it was really affecting her confidence.

The star then detailed how she was left 'bamboozled' by the online market for products to help with her appearance before she discovered Elavate Collagen - a supplement in hot chocolate form.

Explaining all to fans she said: 'I realised that from the age of 25 you start to lose 1 per cent of your collagen...

'I was skeptical about collagen at first but a friend recommended Elavate’s Multi-Collagen Superblend and I’m so glad I gave it a go...

'I’ve been using it for a few months now and my skin has started to get that bounce back. It’s become this lovely evening ritual and I genuinely feel like myself again!'

Martine made sure to detail all the products key selling points before also sharing a link to the brand in her bio.

Haircare

Martine shared her hair care secret with her followers in another brand deal with anti-dandruff shampoo brand Polytar.

Opening up about her scalp health journey she shared: 'When it comes to your scalp and the health of your hair you can think there are all sorts of reasons you are struggling with it.

'I didn't realise that because I was living in the city again, the water was harder and it was really affecting my scalp.

'I tried so many different products and nothing seemed to be doing the job and then  I was in a local chemist one day and I saw the packaging for Polytar and I thought "I am going to give this a go".

'And I was like, "my hair seems to be better" and I haven't had a problem with dandruff since, unless I don't use it for a while, and then I go back to it. Thank you Polytar'.

Martine's financial woes came after her very public split from husband Jack and her bankruptcy was issued just two months after Martine and the musician sold their family home they had shared.

The bankruptcy order was made in her married name – Martine McManus - despite her being formally single by then.

It was issued in March at the County Court in Guildford, Surrey, following a petition filed by a company called LDF Finance to whom she owed an unspecified sum of money.

But that wasn't the only financial blow to strike her soon after the marriage split: her company, Raven Music Ltd, was also wound up just three months ago at the request of HMRC due to unpaid tax bills, Daily Mail learned at the time.

The most recent accounts for the company reveal that it owed more than £175,000 to the taxman, payable in the 12-month period after February 2022.

Meanwhile, Martine's total personal tax bill has not been revealed, and it is not known if the Official Receiver will apply for a public examination of her bankruptcy, which would disclose her financial affairs to the world.

This is actually the second time that the actress - whose net worth was once estimated as being over £2million - has been declared bankrupt, having previously endured the distressing legal process in 2013.

That earlier bankruptcy came after she reportedly racked up £187,000 of debts, which included £150,000 owed to HMRC.

But Martine is believed to have been discharged from that previous bankruptcy in 2014, allowing her to get back on her feet financially.

She and her husband were certainly solvent enough to be able to splash out £1.3million on buying their dream detached home in Surrey in June 2022.

But the move to a dream home didn't save the relationship of the couple, who revealed in August 2024 that they were splitting up after 18 years together, with Martine revealing that her husband had ended their relationship.

Sources close to the star indicated she desperately tried to save her marriage but eventually accepted her husband's decision to move on.

In her split statement, which she posted on Instagram at the time, Martine wrote: 'After much thought and consideration, Jack has decided it's best for us to separate after 18 years together and I accept his decision.'

She later added: 'I continue to send Jack all the love, luck and happiness for the next chapter of his life.'

It later emerged that they had put their home on the market three months earlier in May last year with an asking price of £1.5million.

They later reduced the price to £1.25million – meaning they faced making a loss on the property – before securing a sale in January this year for £1,355,000, according to Land Registry records.
